Pope Francis has expressed his great disappointment that Christmas fell on Monday this year, describing it as ’Rubbish!’
’It meant I had to go to Mass twice in two days. Last year Christmas was on a Sunday and that was ace. Talk about two birds with one stone.’
But not everyone was disappointed, the Prefect of the Congregation for Doctrine and Liturgy was found in tears in his bathroom in October. ’I had this joyful realisation when I saw it in my diary. It felt like Christmas had come early, twice. I was looking forward to it for ages.’
Catholics across the country were heard groaning. Don Hook, 35, from Derbyshire said ’Last year, we went to midnight Mass at 6pm so we were done and dusted by half past seven. We didn’t even have to think about church all Christmas Day. Now that’s a good Christmas. It was brill. Not this year though.’
Pope Francis added ‘I asked Pope Benny if the Christmas one counts for the Sunday but he just slammed his fist on the table and said ‘Nein! Nein! Nein!’
